The Artist’s Chore

Monday’s Parenting Thought
Because art is messy, it can be an opportunity to help children learn about chores.
Require children to clean up after their art projects.
Make a list of the steps needed for a good cleanup job. Use pictures for children who do not read yet. Example for Play-Doh:
  • Put dough back in containers;
  • Make sure lids are on containers;
  • Put containers on shelf;
  • Wipe off table.
Check off each item on the list – done or undone.
Check the quality of the work done – well done or try again.
Inspired by the picture book, MORRIS THE ARTIST.
