Love That Is Unconditional

Monday’s Parenting Thought
What is unconditional love?
It is love with no strings attached. You don’t have to earn it. You don’t
have to meet certain requirements to deserve it.
One of the best examples of unconditional love is seen between children and pets. Pets give children a chance to learn about both giving and getting love with no strings attached.
  • Pets show that they like you. For children, this means a lot of “I like you.” and “I want to be with you.” messages.
  • Pets give attention to children enthusiastically.
  • Regardless of mistakes children may make – pulling a tail, forgetting a meal, or showing up late – they can still depend on being accepted by the pet.
  • This is a comfort for children. They know they can depend on the pet no matter what.
