Thank You Can Be a Complete Sentence.


Stop and think about what compliments you received over the last few days. Remember what you said when you received them. How many times did you throw them away? (“Oh, it was nothing.”)
Make a list of all the ways you rejected them.
Tear the list up, throw it away, and choose to accept your compliments for the rest of the week. Even if it feels awkward at first, stick with it. All you need to do is say thank you. For extra credit, add a smile.
For the rest of this week, every time you receive a compliment, respond with only a sincere, “Thank you.”
Don’t explain it away (Oh this old thing.”)
Don’t tell yourself the person who is giving the compliment wants something.
Don’t pretend you didn’t hear it.
