Why Kids Can’t Wait

Parenting Thoughts

As our world has speeded up, children have learned to expect everything immediately. They expect to:
  • Get what they want when they want it,
  • Get answers quickly,
  • Be able to do things instantly, and
  • Have “stuff” as teenagers and young adults that their parents worked for decades to have.
The speed of computers leads all of us to be unable to wait and want everything right now.  We have learned to measure everything in terms of seconds.  How fast can I get to a new screen, find the answer to my question, or make contact with another person?  “No waiting” is how we judge the worth of all products and services.
