Blended Families

Monday’s Parenting Thought

When children in blended families don’t get along with a stepparent the marriage is under fire – even when the two adults are totally devoted to one another.

One way to help: Have the biological parent be in charge of discipline rules and consequences about curfews, allowances, bedtimes, etc. Have the stepparent enforce the rules already decided by the biological parent. This will take power struggles off the table for the stepparent.

Inspired by the picture book, EMMA’s QUESTION.
